TaylorMade 2016 M2 Irons

Distance was the whole brief. TaylorMade built the 2016 M2 around a seven iron set at 28.5 degrees, two full degrees stronger than the M2 Tour sold beside it, with 19 degrees at the four iron and 60 at the lob wedge. That long end behaves more like a hybrid slot than a traditional long iron, while the bottom of the range still leaves genuine wedge loft to score with.

Steel comes as the Reax 88 HL. Graphite is the Reax, lightening as the flex softens: 75 grams in stiff, 65 in regular, 55 in senior. The Speed grip weighs 47 grams and keeps the finished club easy to swing. TaylorMade built these to order in 2016, which left the length of the run entirely with the buyer, and both hands were catered for. Golfers who find these lofts too aggressive through the middle irons have the M2 Tour to fall back on.
