LAB Golf

L.A.B. stands for Lie Angle Balance, and one idea holds the whole company up: balance the head to the lie angle of the shaft and the face stays square to the arc without the golfer working to keep it there. Bill Presse IV, a teaching professional and clubmaker of forty years, got there with a homemade diagnostic rig he cut from a broken crutch and called The Revealer. His first putter was the Directed Force, and that's where the DF models get their name. LAB Golf took its name in 2018, when Sam Hahn bought in.

Every putter is machined in Creswell, Oregon, just outside Eugene, then balanced and checked by hand before it leaves the building. More than a hundred people work there now, which for a putter company is a lot. The DF, MEZZ, LINK, OZ and VZN families each come as a stock build or a fitted one. Fitting isn't an upsell here, and a five-second video of a stroke is enough for a certified fitter to set length and lie remotely. Bigger manufacturers followed into the zero-torque category, though Hahn pushes back on the term and calls it corrective torque instead. The company also partners with other brands to put its balance technology in their putters, and repairs go back through Creswell. Tour players have won majors with them.
