Takomo

Finland is not where golf equipment usually comes from. Takomo works out of Turku, sells only through its own website, and was started in 2021 by Sebastian Haapahovi, who came to golf from the software industry with a complaint about what good irons cost. The look is Nordic and deliberately plain. Most of the orders end up in the United States, and a base in Flower Mound, Texas handles that side of things.

Irons run in three numbered families: 101 for game improvement, 201 and 201T through players' distance and players' precision, 301 for the cavity backs and musclebacks. Construction isn't uniform across them: the 301 line and the Skyforger wedges are forged from S20C carbon steel, while the current 101 and 201 heads are cast hollow bodies. Takomo builds ship with KBS shafts and Lamkin grips. Beyond irons there's the 101U driving iron, the Ignis fairway woods and a driver, and fitting happens through a three-minute quiz on the site rather than a cart at a range. Orders ship worldwide and are priced in the buyer's own currency. Tour staff were never the plan either; the company put its money into YouTube, and two of the creators who backed it now own part of it.
