Thirty and a half degrees on the 7-iron makes this the weakest-lofted G-series set Ping has built, and in context that is a compliment. Every generation since has been strengthened, to 30 for the three that followed and 29 by the G430, so the G30 launches higher and lands softer than its own successors at the same nominal number.

Cast 17-4 stainless, a 4-iron to pitching wedge run of seven, on Ping's CFS Distance steel or the TFC 419i graphite. Both dexterities, four flexes. Ping never published a stock grip for anything in this family. Worth a look for anyone who finds modern game-improvement lofts too strong to hold a green.
