TaylorMade 2016 M1 Fairway Wood

TaylorMade called this its first carbon crown fairway, and the M1 wears the claim honestly. A composite top sits over a multi material body, and the mass saved up there went into a track across the front of the sole. Two 15 gram weights ride in it, 30 grams in total, and splitting them changes how the head resists twisting. Sizing across the three builds is uneven: the 3 and 3HL sit at 150 and 151cc before the 5 falls away to 132.

A 12 position sleeve handles loft and lie, worth a couple of degrees each way, so the fitting range is wide before a shaft is chosen. Fujikura's Pro 70 is stock across X, stiff, regular and a mid flex, under a Lamkin Performance 360 grip at 52 grams. Left handers are covered on two of the three heads, with the 3HL missing. Anyone with no appetite for sliding weights around has that year's M2, which fixes everything the M1 lets you move.
