About this club

HL in a Ping iron means light, not lofted. The G430 HL keeps the standard G430's 29 degree 7-iron and its cast 17-4 stainless head, then strips weight out of everything you hold. Ping's Alta Quick shaft comes in 35 and 45 gram versions, light flex only, with a Lamkin UTx Lite grip on top. Sets are 4-PW in both hands.

That combination is aimed at a specific golfer. Slower swings often lose more to heavy components than to loft, and a 35 gram shaft is genuinely light by any measure. The tradeoff is control, since ultralight builds can feel vague at the top of the swing. Anyone who still generates decent speed should take the standard G430 instead, where the shaft menu runs to eight options at no upcharge and the flexes reach all the way to X-stiff.
