Ben Hogan Equalizer Wedge

Hogan's first new club after a two year gap, the Equalizer restarted the wedge line and set the template its successor later refined. A V-Sole puts high bounce along the leading edge and takes it away toward the back, so the club enters turf easily and then gets out of its own way. Because the head is a soft 1025 carbon steel forging, it will bend three degrees strong or two weak without complaint.

The loft card runs 48 to 62 degrees in two degree steps, enough to cover a full gapping set on its own, and faces are CNC milled with a textured surface between the grooves. Shafts here are named, not left open: Dynamic Gold across regular, stiff and X, a KBS Tour Lite, and UST Recoil graphite at three separate weights. Six grips are offered at no upcharge with no default among them.
