Where the No. 1 stays traditional, this one goes to a mallet, and the extra footprint behind the face is the entire reason to pick it. More material further back steadies the head when you miss the middle, which is close to the most useful thing a putter can do for a golfer who doesn't putt especially well.

Balance is flat, so the stroke it suits is one that holds its line. Both 34 and 35 inch builds exist, and a left hander can actually buy this one, which is not something every head in the family allows. Milled face, black finish, no insert anywhere in it. Golfers wanting still more weight, in a longer build, have the counterbalanced No. 3 CB waiting one step along the range.
