This is where the carbon face started. Sixty layers of it, 44 percent lighter than the titanium equivalent it replaced, wrapped in a polyurethane cover and set into a titanium chassis with a carbon crown above. The idea was to buy back mass from the most expensive place on a driver and spend it somewhere useful.

Rear mass is fixed in place, so a 4 degree sleeve at the hosel carries the fitting, two degrees of loft each way. Ventus Red and Aldila Ascent Red split the stock shafts and between them cover senior to X-stiff, which is unusually broad. The loft card offers 9, 10.5 then 12 degrees, with the 12 built right-handed only. For a shot-shape lever on the sole, the Plus is the one to look at.
