Thirty-three degrees is an extraordinary number to find on a fairway wood, and the G Le4 goes there, above heads at 18, 23 and 28 degrees. The steps are wider than the G Le3 used. Five degrees a time. That spreads four clubs across a much bigger stretch of the bag.

The head measures 184cc, larger than the previous generation and multi-material rather than all metal, with a maraging steel face and an adjustable hosel. Ping's Alta Le F handles the shaft in ladies flex, with a Golf Pride Soft Tack grip. A 33 degree wood sits where a mid-iron normally would, which suits a golfer who launches woods far more easily than irons. That is the swing this whole range is drawn around.
