Twenty-seven degrees at the 7-iron is where Cobra's KING TEC X separates itself. That's two and a half stronger than the standard TEC and about as far as a game improvement set can push before the pitching wedge stops being a wedge. The head is multi-material with a 17-4 stainless face, sets run 4-PW, and KBS Tour Lite 105 is the only stock shaft, in flexes from light through X-stiff.

Distance sets live and die on gapping. Anyone buying into lofts this strong needs to plan the wedges below them, usually with an extra gap wedge that the set doesn't include. The payoff is real for golfers whose long irons have stopped carrying. A single length build of the same X head exists if the idea appeals, and the softer faced standard TEC if it doesn't.
