Callaway X Forged Max Irons

The Max version of the X Forged is a forged players iron that stopped pretending distance doesn't matter. Its 7-iron is 31 degrees, two degrees stronger than the standard X Forged, and the stock shaft steps down in weight to True Temper Dynamic Gold Mid 100. Both are forged from 1020 carbon steel. Regular through X-stiff, right-handed, 4-PW.

Choosing between Max and the standard model comes down to how much help the long irons need. The standard X Forged is the tighter head with more traditional lofts and a heavier shaft, aimed at players whose speed isn't in question. Max adds forgiveness on the same forged platform. Neither is a game improvement iron. They're two readings of the same brief, and the loft difference is the clearest signal of which is which.
