Ben Hogan M50-01 Gap Wedge

Sold on its own but built as part of the M50-01 iron set, this is the gap wedge at 48 degrees, one loft and no options attached. That number is chosen carefully. The M50-01 irons run strong through the bottom of the set, and a 48 degree head is what stops a hole opening up between a powerful pitching wedge and a conventional 54.

It is a one piece forging in 1020C carbon steel, the same head and the same feel as the irons it belongs to, which counts for more in a gap wedge than people expect. This is the club you hit three quarter shots with off a fairway lie, and you want it behaving like an iron when you do. Hogan make it up on request, right handed, settling shaft, grip and length at that point, across the usual ladies to X-stiff spread.
