Tommy Armour VCG Wedge

The VCG Wedge is Tommy Armour's forged short game club, and the most complete fitting proposition in its wedge range. Forging gives it the softer, more talkative feel that better players lean on to judge distance on partial shots. The loft ladder climbs from 48 to 60 degrees, two degrees at a time, so you can build a matched set of three or four wedges off one head shape instead of stitching together clubs that sit differently.

Bounce is where the fitting happens. Eight, 10 and 12 degrees off a full sole cover most turf and swing types: 8 for firm ground and a shallow, sweeping attack, 12 for soft conditions and a steep strike that digs a real divot, with 10 between them. A full sole resists digging and forgives a heavy hand, though you'll give up something when you lay the face open. With a Tour Issue S200 shaft and a Lamkin 360 Crossline grip, it's a wedge for a golfer who knows their numbers.
