About this club

Centre shafting a mallet is the most direct route to face-balanced geometry, and the Sycamore 008 takes it. The shaft comes in through the centre of the head, so nothing at the heel is left to lever the face open, which is what a non-rotating stroke needs. Milled 1045 carbon steel, black, one 35 inch length, right hand only.

Sub 70 builds several of its mallets in both a centre-shafted and a double bend version, and the two behave identically. What changes is what you see. A centre shaft gives a symmetrical picture with the shaft splitting the head, where a double bend drops it in at the heel and leaves the familiar offset. Neither is better. One of them will simply look right to you.
