About this club

Replacing the i230, Ping's i240 keeps the 33 degree 7-iron and the eight piece build that starts at the 4-iron and ends with a gap wedge. It's cast from a 431 stainless face into a compact head, with a shorter shaft list than the outgoing model, running to AWT 3.0 between 98 and 118 grams, Nippon's N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 115, and Alta CB Blue at 70 grams in graphite. Senior through X-stiff, both hands.

Ping's players category is a two model affair. The i530 shares the shape but strengthens to 29 degrees with a hollow body, so the i240 is the one that behaves predictably into greens. Golfers who chase distance with their irons tend to regret it around the wedges. This set never asks you to make that trade.
